What is Coaching?
Sometimes all we need is for someone to help us clear the path ahead so we can get to where we are going. As client and coach, we’ll work together to melt away whatever obstacles are keeping you from achieving your ideal weight, health and life. As your Coach, I’ll be your partner in change and an advocate for the part of you that seeks freedom from the battles you have with your weight, your body, and your health.
Are you a specific type of coach? Are you certified?
I am a Martha Beck Certified Life Coach and a Certified Weight Loss Coach trained by Brooke Castillo. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and spent 13 years working with several companies helping employees create great work place cultures that supported their work/life balance.
Coaching one on one was a natural transition – not only did I get to help indivdiulas improve their workplace experiences, but now I could help people create a great life! My health, wellness, and weight management specialty developed through personal experience, the experiences of close family members and a passion I’ve always had for wanting to live life to the fullest.
How does the coaching process work?
I offer an initial one on one session at no cost to you. This is our opportunity to see if we would make a good team. One thing l love about coaching is that it is highly individualized so we can customize how best to structure future coaching sessions. As an example, I offer one-on-one one coaching in person, by phone or by email (or a combination of all three if that works better for you). All of these options are designed to help you find the coaching program that fits you. Initially, most clients prefer a 6 to 8 week coaching program of weekly calls and email support between calls.
Describe your ideal client.
My ideal client is typically someone that has tried everything and is tired of not seeing long-term results. They tend to be very busy with other things in their lives so they are looking for a program that will fit into their personal lifestyle. I find that my most successful clients are people that want a customized program versus looking for a standard, off-the-shelf plan. You need to be willing to try something different and be truly ready to make some big changes in your life, not just in your eating. Your eating will change incidentally just by going through this process. My most successful clients are clients that are really ready to change and are passionate about wanting more from their lives.
How are you different from other Coaches?
For me, it’s not about counting calories, fat grams, fiber or anything like that. It’s not about putting you on a plan and just making sure you stick to it. if you want it to work long term, you’ll need to work to understand what drives your overeating in the first place, what gets in your way of living the life you want and reshaping the REALATIONSHIP you hae with yourself and your body. Often, I spend a lot of time with my clients around using exercise and movement of your body as a way of redeveloping a better relationship with yourself.
What do you expect from your clients?
I expect them to give this and themselves a chance, to do their homework, and to commit to themselves. I expect them to be open to new possibilities and be willing to question the current beliefs they have about themselves, their weight and about food. I expect them to be honest and to push back; I expect them to experiment and be curious about themselves and their thoughts. I need them to understand that the path to freedom from the struggle is to meet it head on, and while there may be times when it’s uncomfortable, all big change is uncomfortable at first. THAT IS HOW CHANGE HAPPENS. Transformations of any kind take time and effort. I know that I expect a lot but I promise you – it’s so worth it!
What type of results can I expect?
You will almost immediately notice a difference in how you think and feel about yourself. Instead of being at odds with yourself all the time, you’ll quickly notice that your mind and body are finally on the same page. You begin realizing that if you’re going to lose the weight without the struggle you have to start with feeling good. You want to get your mind and my body working together; once that occurs you’ll begin to see results beyond just losing the excess weight.
